A Diet of Undeclared Ingredients

Diet — it can’t be just all about the food. Trying to follow a label to assist in counting calories doesn’t seem accurate. A calorie is determined in a tin can or some contraption. They way we burn calories is not the same way calories are burning when being determined. That barely makes sense, so why are calories determined in 1 gram of water rising one degree — a single calorie is so small, that they ( calorie ) are usually measured in kilocalories (kcal).  And if we’re unable to determine all that is in the “need to know” category from the Nutrition Facts panel, commonly on most packaged foods purchased at a grocery store, food purchased in a restaurant won’t be labeled clearly.

Caloric understanding is stripped down to acronyms till we are up to our EARS in AIs, DRIs, and RDA’s. Should that be EERs? The DVs developed by the FDA shown on Nutrition Facts panel lead where? Are these facts pointing to Choose My Plate?

Choose My Plate is not a place for a celiac to go.

Where can a celiac go for diet help?

Where can those with gluten sensitivity go for diet help?

Would one find more complaints than help? More symptoms? More corrections of the misinformation?

Could the Nutrition Facts panel and ingredients listing be more clear?

Could we get more balance of  simple things known to make most of us feel better?

Part of Jeff Novick’s explanation for manufacturer’s food labelling is shown here: explaining food packaging honestly. He’d have you learn some rules when trying to decipher the packaging, learn some math, but, moreover, he’d have you discover where the  problem, the misdirection, begins.
